PRESS RELEASE - AUGUST

GRADUATION DAY FOR PRINCE’S TRUST STUDENTS

AT THE ‘GAGGIA CAFFE ACADEMIE’

Eight successful young individuals from the newly launched Prince’s Trust pilot scheme entitled ‘Get Into Coffee’, graduated from the GAGGIA CAFFE ACADEMIE after a week’s intensive training in coffee knowledge and expertise, last Friday.

The highly successful initiative aims to offer young people hands-on work experience and follow-up support to open up employment opportunities in the coffee industry, and the broader catering and hospitality industries.  The scheme attracted the attention of several leading restaurants and coffee businesses, including Carluccios, Pizza Express and Whittards of Chelsea , who each recognized the importance of providing stimulating training opportunities and offered job interviews to those  completing the course.

Gaggia’s managing director, Raj Beadle, awarded the industry-recognised Caffe Acadmie certificates to each graduate while guest of honour and Prince’s Trust Ambassador, Antonio Carluccio, presented them with the coveted Trust certificates.

‘Gaggia is extremely pleased with the results of the ‘Get into Coffee’ programme. Most importantly, we have been able to offer the kind of prospects that will hopefully make a difference.  It has been a privilege to work with The Prince’s Trust and all those who have given their support. As a continually evolving company, GAGGIA is now looking to develop its training initiatives and carry their influence nationwide, and help for young people to find a foothold in the industry.’ – Raj Beadle, Managing Director, Gaggia.

Get Into Coffee is part of The Prince’s Trust Get Into programme, which aims to help young people develop practical skills and open up employment opportunities in a variety of industry sectors. Get Into was developed in response to Prince’s Trust research which show young people want worthwhile jobs which offer them career opportunities, and that they feel held back in life by their lack of skills, experience and qualifications.

Participants on Get Into Coffee spent a week learning about the process of coffee making, how to make a range of styles of coffee to the highest standard, and work and maintain coffee equipment.
